The Linyi Meihu Opera Troupe of Shanxi Province was established in 1953. It is one of the councils of the Chinese Modern Opera Research Association, and a national intangible cultural heritage protection institute, as well as the only troupe in China that has always dedicated on writing modern operas since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It has kept a record of giving performance in prestigious places to politically important figures. For instance, they performed in Beijing for eight times and in Zhongnanhai for four times and once in the Great Hall of the People. They delivered exclusive performances for party and state leaders such as  ZHOU Enlai, ZHU De, DENG Xiaoping, LI Xiannian, PENG Dehuai, LUO Ruiqing, HE Long, JI Pengfei, PENG Zhen, BO Yibo, JIANG Zemin, WU Bangguo and so on. A total of more than 240 modern dramas were created and rehearsed. Among them, "A Red Heart", "Creek Running East" and "Suona Love" were made into movies, and "Ten Miles Fragrance" and "Mountain Girl" were broadcast on CCTV many times. Filming of the eight-episode drama TV series "Emeiling" has ended. Participated in various performances more than 40 times, it was awarded "National Advanced Institute for Cultural Work" and "Model Institute for Ideological Propaganda Work in Shanxi Province". Since the beginning of the new century, under the leadership of the new leadership team, our troupe t has achieved unprecedented brilliance. In 2003 and 2013, it was rated as "the first national and the fifth advanced institution for the people" by the Central Propaganda Department and the Ministry of Culture respectively. YAN Huifang, a national first-class actor, won the "First Chinese Drama Award and the Plum Blossom Performance Award for Chinese Opera". The whole troupe won more than 210 national, provincial and municipal medals and certificates. At present, the whole troupe members are united and determined to strive for the development of modern Chinese opera and for a better and more dynamic cultural life of the people.
