Mr. Made Sandhyana Angga, a first-year Ph.D. student, receives Excellent Presentation Award at WET2021-Online conference

　Mr. Made Sandhyana Angga, a first-year doctoral course student of River Basin Environmental Science Major, Environmental and Social System Science Course, Department of Engineering (supervisor: Prof. Eiji Haramoto), was awarded “Excellent Presentation Award” at Water Environment and Technology Conference Online 2021 (WET2021-Online) held on August 11-12, 2021. The Excellent Presentation Awards were given for outstanding presentations at WET2021-Online, where 17 out of 133 presenters were selected for the award.
　The title of his presentation was “Performance evaluation of virus concentration methods for SARS-CoV-2 recovery in wastewater.” In this study, virus concentration methods were evaluated for their applicability to detect SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater for the purpose of in order to contribute to the social implementation of wastewater-based epidemiology to understand the incidence of COVID-19 in communities.
　Mr. Angga said “I am very happy to receive this award. To be honest, it was my first time attending an international conference as a speaker, so I am not expecting anything like this award. It was a very great experience attending the WET2021 conference even though it was held online. It is not only my solo effort that made this possible. I would like to thank my Sensei, Prof. Eiji Haramoto, for his limitless kindness, support, patience, and guidance. I also want to say thank you to my friends in the laboratory, especially Dr. Bikash, who always gave me guidance about my study. And also I would like to thank a person from another laboratory as my personal motivation to always work hard. I think I am not a talented person, but I believe hard work beats talent. I will keep working hard to become a good researcher.”
