Each team had intensive discussions on algorithms and program implementation by communicating in English or by writing and worked very hard together to challenge difficult assignments. The venue of the competition was filled with the enthusiasm of students.
It is a part of our mid-term plan to provide the students the opportunities to work with international researchers and students by developing global partnership. Since Department of Computer Science is aiming for cultivating human resources responsible for advanced information society, acquiring the ability to collaborate with other members of a team for the design and development of information systems is an important part of the curriculum. Through this competition, the students could experience international team work.
The following day, July 14th, 23 teams from University of Yamanashi participated in “ACM-ICPC 2017” preliminary domestic competition and the team consisting of 3 senior students, Ryota Komiyama, Taiyo Suzuki and Haruki Fukuda, made it through the preliminary and into the Asian zone preliminary which will be held in Tsukuba city (Ibaraki prefecture) on December 16th to 17th 2017.
